Peacemaking Workshops
All community members are invited to join Gary and Anna (pictured Above) from the Community Justice Centre to learn more about conflict and fighting and ways to make peace. This is the first of a series of workshops and they will be held at the following venues from 10 AM – 2PM with lunch provided.
MEN’S SESSION ~ Wednesday 3rd April, Ranger Kitchen
WOMEN’S SESSIONS ~ Thursday 4th April, Da Ngimalmin ( Old Church)
YOUTH SESSIONS ~ Friday 5th April, Thamarrurr Youth
The workshops will build on local knowledge and skills and focus on building skills in conflict resolution and practicing peacemaking. The sessions will cover understanding conflict (what conflict looks like, causes, approaches, stages and its impacts) and strategies for managing conflict. Anna and Gary have been in and out of community over the past few months, working with local leaders and natural peacemakers to co-design the workshops. The Peacemaking project has been funded by National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) and we extend our thanks to NIAA for their support.
