Nganbe Oyster Farm First Grade
The first oyster grading event took place last week for the Kirnmu black lip oyster project and the results were awesome.
The baby oysters have doubled in size, measuring in at an average of 10 mm. They averaged just under 5 mm when they arrived just before Christmas.
The oysters will be graded every 6-8 weeks to ensure size uniformity in each cage. There will be frequent training events and opportunities for local people with each grade.
Now that proof of concept has been established the project will now consider its larger infrastructure requirements.
