Darrikardu Art Collective

The Darrikardu Art project is progressing along with the appointment of Community Arts Coordinators Austin Djorlum and Bridget Bunduck. Austin Djorlum is based in Nganmarriyanga and comes from a family of renowned artists. He was mentored by his father in Gunbalanya. His painting style and traditional skills are remarkably advanced for his age.

Austin’s enthusiasm is infectious and is inspiring us all. Bridget is based in Wadeye and is renowned for her screen prints, with her echidna print being one of the most in demand designs.

Lisa Buchanan, Darrikardu Art Collective Coordinator has been working with artists on artist profiles and agreements, compliance with the indigenous art code, cataloging art, the website/sales portal and the Darrikardu Facebook page.

All this hard work will come to fruition in the coming weeks. The artists are looking forward to having an easily accessible sales avenue that preserves and promotes ethical trading in Indigenous art.
