Thamarrurr Healthy People Program
Healthy People is comprised of the Thamarrurr Men’s Shed, the Women’s Centre, Thamarrurr Aged Care and the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) departments.
Senior elders and the community have long understood the importance of the Healthy People program.
The program focuses on supporting the concept of “Strong Women” and “Strong Men” by having a strong cultural base for improvements in health that incorporates all generations and abilities.
Healthy People aims to bring together all internal and external stakeholders who work in primary health care to coordinate resources, improve health service delivery and deliver better outcomes for the community.
Thamarrurr Aged Care is the region’s National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders (NATSI) flexible aged care program.
Thamarrurr Development Corporation (TDC) is the registered National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provider for the Thamarrurr region
The Wadeye Women’s Centre was created by Palngun (Woman, Murrinhpatha) as a safe space for the women of Wadeye to collaborate and engage with each other.
Community leaders chose the Thamarurr Men’s Shed Program as an initiative to improve the health and wellbeing of men in the community.
