No More To Violence Against Women
A Big Shout out to NO MORE, Catholic Care, West Daly Regional Council, Kardu Diminin and NT Police for coordinating the NO MORE march on Wednesday, officially opening the 16 Days of Activism campaign.
Adrian Lantjin delivered a powerful speech, emphasising that “Women are as precious as Mother Earth; they give us life. They are our grandmothers, mothers, sisters, wives, and daughters, and they deserve to be treated with respect.” The crowd gathered to hear speeches, some highlighting harrowing statistics of violence against women.
Then, they marched up and down Perdjert Street, holding banners and clap sticks, chanting, “NO MORE.”
Local organisations have organised a number of events in the coming weeks to support the campaign.
