Manager Kardu Community Programs
The Manager Kardu community programs is responsible for services and programs that are focused on improving the overall social and emotional wellbeing of Kardu throughout the Thamarrurr region. Programs are usually government or TDC self-funded and are typically not programs that generate profit for TDC. The Manager Kardu Community Programs will be required to manage and implement various contracts held by TDC, as well as management of staff in each area.
Programs include, but are not limited to:
- Da Ngimalmin Committee – aims to further the local governance and direction provided to education.
- Alternative Education Program – Working to establish an improved approach to education and training by bringing the community and education systems together.
- Youth Diversion – Engage local youth, providing services, support and programs which are primarily designed for young people.
- Women & Children’s Centre – supporting families and reconnecting children with the community and Country, developing and strengthening traditional knowledge systems.
- Men’s Shed Health & Wellbeing – enhancing the wellbeing and empowerment of men and youth in the community.
Healthy Country Manager
The Healthy Country Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating conservation and sustainable land and resource management activities within a designated geographic area. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining and enhancing the environmental health and biodiversity of the region while also considering the well-being of local communities. As part of your responsibilities in this role, you will oversee the management of Rangers (both land and sea), the Savanna Fire Management Program, provide support for Homelands, and contribute to the management of Indigenous Protected Areas (IPA).
Responsibilities:
- Conservation Planning: Develop and implement strategies for the protection, preservation, and sustainable management of natural resources and ecosystems within the designated area.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with local communities, government agencies, Indigenous groups, environmental organizations, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Resource Management: Monitor and manage land, water, and biodiversity, ensuring sustainable use and conservation of natural assets.
- Research and Data Collection: Conduct ecological surveys and gather data on local flora, fauna, and ecosystems to inform conservation efforts.
- Community Development: Collaborate with local communities to support their economic, social, and cultural development, while also respecting traditional land management practices.
- Grant Writing and Fundraising: Seek funding opportunities, write grant proposals, and manage budgets to support conservation initiatives.
- Advocacy and Education: Advocate for environmental protection and conservation policies and educate the public, community, TDC and Staff on the importance of biodiversity and sustainable land management.
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental regulations and report on the progress of conservation efforts to stakeholders and authorities.
- Effective leadership and coordination of workforce: Facilitate the efficient and collaborative operation of all departments through effective leadership and workforce coordination, ultimately enabling the organization to attain its objectives while fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Men’s Shed Health & Wellbeing Program Manager

Thamarrurr Development Corporation (TDC) is seeking a Mentor for the Rangers working in our dynamic team of Land and Sea Rangers.
The Thamarrurr Rangers are based in Wadeye and look after the natural and cultural values of a large area of traditionally owned lands in the Western Top End of the Northern Territory. We are responsible for around 18 000km2 of land and over 200km of coastline in the remote area between Cape Scott and the WA border. Our team is comprised mostly of Traditional Owners from the region, and we are answerable to the local Indigenous community in all our activities.
Our responsibilities include the culturally appropriate management of fire, feral animals and weeds on the land, and we play a compliance role in monitoring recreational and commercial fishing in our sea country. We also facilitate access and help to protect sacred and cultural sites in the region. All our activities are guided by the aspirations and values of the Traditional Owners.

About the role
Thamarrurr Development Corporation (TDC) located in Wadeye is seeking Diesel Mechanics to join our dynamic Workshop team based in Wadeye. Wadeye is the Territory’s 6th most populous town and one of Australia’s largest remote indigenous communities.
The primary purpose of the role is to provide complete mechanical services to all vehicles and private customers within the Wadeye community, ensuring all vehicles, heavy and light earth moving equipment and other plant and machinery are kept in a serviceable condition for use.
A positive customer relations focus and ability to maintain a good rapport with the community is essential.

Providing safe, reliable, consistent and high-quality carpentry services to the Wadeye community and surrounding areas, you’ll also be providing on-the-job training and mentoring to local Indigenous trade assistants and apprentices when required.
