TDC Update
Our Mission at TDC is to develop all commercial opportunities on behalf of the clan members throughout the Region to advance our key aims of providing local jobs for local people and, in the long term, ensuring every child has a chance of a full life.
CEO Update – Scott McIntyre

This week we had a good session with the elders from the Marringarr clan groups.
All the clan groups of the region are supported by TDC and Thamarrurr.
This week we got Barney Richard and Arthur together with a few younger fellers to check in on how we’re going as TDC, and what they see is important for them and their clans.

There was some really important work on talking about the next generation of leaders and people for us to work with.
The fellas don’t often get the chance to get together so there were some laughs and some good stories and some really important discussions about the future.
These sessions will continue so we can provide updates on progress against agreed actions. Everyone is looking forward to the next one.
Pancakes in Palumpa
Palumpa celebrated Pancake Day this week and people were nervous to try lemon and sugar on their pancakes, but once they did, they came back for seconds!
All the diners had a lovely lunch together and it was nice to have an enjoyable time after the recent turmoil.

A big shout out to Jema and Rhys who go above and beyond in delivering positive activities in Palumpa.
They have taken on many roles including supporting the Aged Care clients with meals and other essential services. We look forward to bringing more people into the Palumpa team to support the great work they are doing.

Happy Birthday Christine
Aged Care resident Christine, celebrated her birthday on Thursday with a gathering of friends cooking Roo tail on the fire pit, coloring palm for Christine’s Weaving and eating Chris-tine’s favorite request, cheesecake.
Thank you to Taryn and the team for helping to make Christine’s day a special one.

International Women’s Day
As we celebrate International Women’s day next week, lets have a look at the gender diversity statistics for TDC.

TDC and Thamarrurr Youth sponsored a group of local women to attend the No Woman Left Behind conference on Friday.
The lineup of speakers was inspiring. We heard many stories of women who had overcome adversity and turned their difficult and some harrowing experiences into success stories, not only achieving great things themselves, but going on to help others on their life journeys.

Veronica met up with Nova Peris after her speech and asked her to come and talk to the girls at Wadeye.

Gender Diversity in TDC
TDC aims to support women in the workplace with flexible working arrangements, particularly those who have family caring responsibilities. Women are more likely to need flexible working arrangements to balance family and work and TDC does a great job in this space.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women with caring responsibilities are a particularly vulnerable group in the workplace, being more likely to be in culturally unsafe and unsupported employment in main stream employment and have higher cultural loads.
TDC is proud to support women in the workplace and is always open to ideas that can help women thrive at work. While the overall representation of women in TDC is good, it would be great to see more women in leadership roles.
If you know women who are aspiring leaders (and may not know it them-selves) reach out and encourage them to participate in growth opportunities. We encourage older women to take the younger ones under their wing, and share their experiences and help them on the bumpy ride of life. The women have organized a light lunch this Tuesday at 12:00 noon at the women’s Centre, everyone is welcome to attend. Please RSVP by 10:00 Monday for catering purposes.
