Congratulations to James Jimarin who was just recently signed up as a carpentry apprentice with Thamarrurr Development Corporation’s housing and construction department.
“Ive been looking for something like this for a long time. I was doing C.D.P in Peppimenarti a few years back but there wasn’t anything like this. I came to Wadeye and tried out a few other jobs but then I got an opportunity to work with the housing mob. A couple of years later they offered me an apprenticeship and signed me up. I’m really happy and looking forward to learning more.”- James Jimarin.
TDC’s housing and construction department is guided by T.D.C’s economic development strategy.
“It is recognised by the people of the Thamarrurr region that, in order to provide their family and the future generations with a better life, they need to be less dependent on the welfare system. This Project places a focus on existing and emerging economic ventures and places them as a platform for growth for individual families”- T.D.C business plan.
“The main thing is family. How are you going to support family staying on Centrelink?” “Young boys and young girls can do this, If I can do it they can too”- James Jimarin.
This is an exciting milestone for Jimmy as well as T.D.C’s housing and construction. We are all looking forward to watching Jimmy flourish as a Tradesman and supporting him along this journey.
